Now we are at the end of July, it’s not been a bad month. Ambrose Princess has been the star of the yard, with a 2nd on the flat at Ffos Las on Tuesday 21st, then winning at Lingfield 4 days later.
She is an incredible horse. Her 1st win (for a previous trainer) was as a 2 year old over a trip of 6 furlongs in August 2007, then she went on to win over 7f in October. As a 3 year old she won over 7f and then stepped up in trip and won over 1m2f in July 2008.
Whilst she has been at Eccleswall Court, she has won twice over hurdles, firstly at Newton Abbot on the 12th May 2009 then at Wetherby at the end of May. The win on the flat at Lingfield last week was over 2m.
Well done Ambrose! Let the wins continue…… |

It’s been a quiet couple of weeks at Eccleswall Court with not many runners. Although Gunner Rose did very well over fences for the first time at Worcester in a novice chase, finishing 3rd. His connections were very pleased!
Gloucester had a close 3rd at Windsor on the 6th of this month, beaten by just ½ a length.
A quiet start to July, however, we have 3 runners this weekend. Firstly, the Simpson-Daniel & Scudamore Racing’s Gleann An Sagart runs in a 2m5f novice chase at Stratford. Secondly, Kempley Green and Mystic King run at Southwell on Sunday, Kempley in a 2m5f handicap hurdle, and Mystic in the 3m maiden chase.

Tom Scudamore on Gleann An Sagart
The yard had a busy day with 3 runners at Newton Abbot last Thursday.
Gleann An Sagart, who runs in the colours of the Simpson-Daniel & Scudamore Racing syndicate, was the star of the day when he finished 2nd behind Jonjo O’Neill’s Keepitsecret in the 2m5 Chase. This was Gleann An Sagart’s first run for the syndicate’s new member Alastair Mason. Alastair and his wife Irene were joined by Gloucester rugby star James Simpson-Daniel in the paddock and afterwards in the winners enclosure and thoroughly enjoyed their day out.
Waynesworld finished 3rd, only 2 ¾ lengths behind Le Duc in the Hunter Chase.
Tiger Moss improved on her last run and came a pleasing 4th in the Novices Handicap Hurdle.

Heltornic gave birth to her her first foal on the evening of 24th February; a bright bay filly by Kayf Tara.
Heltornic was in training at Eccleswall Court until injury forced her to retire in November 2007. Her best win was the 2007 Red Square Vodka Gold Cup at Haydock for Michael Scudamore Snr. |

THE name Scudamore is synonymous with success in the jumping game and yesterday a new name from their illustrious roll of honour was added to the list when Michael Scudamore saddled his first two winners in this sphere, Dark Energy and Fourpointone completing a 43-1 double for him.
Dark Energy provided the 24-year-old son of jockey legend Peter Scudamore with his first notch on the barrel when skating up in the 2m1/2f handicap hurdle.
The 7-1 shot cruised into the lead from the front-running Kingscourt Lad at the last and had only to be given an inch of rein under Michael Scudamore's brother, Tom, as he crossed the line four and half lengths clear of Aleemdar.
The young trainer, who has already enjoyed three victories on the Flat, said: "It is nice to get it out of the way and I'm delighted.
This fellow has run well for us and has done it well today. He's in at the weekend at Newton Abbot and we could go there."
The brothers didn't have to wait long to double up as Fourpointone completed a good day's work when landing the 3m2f handicap hurdle.
The 9-2 joint-favourite had been purchased by their father, Peter, at the Doncaster May sales and was driven out for a three length win from Welsh Guard after leading three out.
The winning trainer added: "That's unbelievable, it never rains but it pours! He was bought cheaply as a fun horse for a longstanding owner of the family's Eddie Moss, and the syndicate who own Dark Energy is run by Chris Coley, who also has had horses with my grandfather for a long time."
Charlie Mann and Noel Fehily also returned home with a brace at odds of around 16-1, courtesy of Proper and Our Choice.
Proper went off an 11-4 joint favourite for the second division of the 2m1/2f maiden hurdle and, after taking up the running at the second last from That Man Fox, had only to be kept up to his work for a length victory.
Our Choice completed the double when making a winning chasing debut in the 2m41/2f novice chase. The 7-2 shot had jumped to the front at the open ditch in front of the stands with a circuit to go and put in some fine leaps subsequently.
The 11-10 chance Scots Dragoon threw down a determined challenge under Tony McCoy from the last but Our Choice wasn't going to be denied and pulled out all the stops to score by a nose.
Levera, the class act on parade, earned himself a break when making a smooth transition to hurdling in the first division of the 2m1/2f maiden.
Trainer Alan King said: "We have been battling hard against the handicapper on the Flat and there was a concern about his stamina.
"The ground wouldn't have been ideal but he proved he got the trip and we will put him on the backburner until October. I am relieved, he jumped really well, and he could be a proper horse."
Star performance Michael Scudamore, who got off the mark as a jumps trainer, with a 43-1 double from Dark Energy and Fourpointone
Analysis pick Dark Energy won impressively and looks sure to follow up.

ONE horse who was supposed to turn up didn't, one who was not supposed to turn up did, and one who did run wrote the latest chapter in the saga of racing family Scudamore.
Malton trainer Richard Fahey was referred to the BHA after Thunder Bay had to be withdrawn from the sprint handicap because the wrong horse had been sent to the track.
The horse who arrived as Thunder Bay turned out to the appropriately named Optical Illusion.
The race was won by Little Pete, who joined Andrew Balding from Rodney Farrant over the winter and gained his first success for the yard. "Swimming has been the key as he is very unwilling at home," said travelling head groom Chad Phillips.
The night probably proved most memorable for new trainer Michael Scudamore, though - even though he was absent - as he sent out his first winner since taking over the licence from his grandfather, also Michael, at the end of last month.
Father Peter was despatched to do the honours as Directa's Digger stormed to a six-length win in the 1m6f handicap.
He said: "It's great for Michael. He's only had a handful of runners and this horse should have won at Bath a couple of weeks ago. He is in at Bath again on Sunday and could go there with a penalty".
Directa's Digger carries the colours of Liverpool solicitor Ian Anderson, who introduced himself to Scu at Aintree. He has now had three horses and they have all won, including Waynesworld, who ran up a four-timer over jumps in 2006.
Bramaputra, who holds an entry for the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot in three weeks' time, gave trainer Rod Millman a tempter when she opened her winning account.
"She's entered for the Coronation, but I don't really think she's ready for it just yet.
"She's still learning and, while she does have great potential, a Listed handicap at Ascot is probably the way to go at the moment," he said.
It was easy to see why he was being cautious. Bramaputra is a beautiful, big filly and dwarfed many of the colts in the field, but she did tend to hang and, for much of the final straight, it was a trait that threatened to cost her the race.
As Frankie Dettori produced Navajo Joe to head the long-time leader Persian Sea approaching the final furlong, Alan Munro was still struggling to get Bramaputra to go about her business, but when she got the hang of it, she finished fast to win it.
Dettori was left cursing his luck with Brian Meehan's colt, but he had earlier got due reward for a text-book ride when Jeremy Noseda's Awinnersgame justified odds-on with an impressive win in the two-year-old maiden.
Awinnersgame had looked a certain future winner when running second on debut at York and had clearly learned from the experience as he came through with a well-timed run to pick off market rival Servoca inside the final furlong.
And Meehan also had compensation when North Parade took the closing maiden race. The winner is owned by Liverpudlian Peter Thomas, who runs Britain's largest private paint manufacturing company.
The opening lady amateur riders' handicap was far from a classic, but that won't matter to Rachel Kneller, who turned in a very competent performance to record her first winner on Hucking Heat.
Kneller, 21, comes from Cannock in Staffordshire and is attached to the yard of Britain's most senior trainer Reg Hollinshead.
Star performance
Awinnersgame took the two-year-old maiden in some style from another nice youngster in Servoca and looks certain to make his presence felt in better company.
