MAZ SCUDAMORE
I train around 12 Point to Point horses in a separate yard at Eccleswall Court. Many of the young horses will progress from point-to-points to racing under Rules. Others are fun horses intended to give their owners a great day out at the local meetings.
Best Horses Trained
GALWAY. Winner of 4 hunter chases, now happily retired at Eccleswall.
WORSHIP THE STARS. Winner of 12 point-to-points and 1 hunter chase.
UN JOUR A VASSY. Who won 5 point-to-points for his owner's son, Alistair Ralph, in his first season riding.
REFLECTOR. Again for the Ralph family - winning 1 point and 1 hunter chase at Stratford and finishing second two years running at the Cheltenham hunter chase meeting.
GREENWICH - winning the Lady Dudley Cup as well as 8 races in a season.
FIESTY FROSTY - provided son, Michael, with his first point-to-point winner!
GLEEVUM. The first horse I had in training for son, Thomas, to ride who, in "our" first season won 7 races on the bounce! She was the most beautiful grey mare - who totally got me hooked on pointing - it's all her fault!
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2010 SEASON
There have been so many, but the ones I really enjoyed are -
HEMINGTON winning the John Corbet at Stratford. In 2009 he progressed through the pointing ranks, starting the season as a maiden and ending it by being placed twice in hunter chasses and Area Young Horse of the Year.
WORSHIP THE STARS - "the dashing grey" - winning 2 Men's Opens. A really brave horse who is a delight to have in the yard. I purchased his half-brother, Aim For The Stars, this spring for The Equis Club - to run next season pointing. We are all very excited!
ABBOTTS MOUNT - winning his maiden at Garnons.
WAYNESWORLD - winner of the Ross Harriers hunt race at Garnons at the age of 12, having returned to point-to-points. He first won the hunt race five years before and then raced under Rules. He ended this season winning 3 men's opens!
BOUNDS AND LEAPS. A home bred filly in her first season, ran twice, finished 3rd and won a mares maiden.
I have been very fortunate this year to have TOM WESTON riding the horses. Tom is a good horseman and a very good judge of pace during a race. He has had his best season to date, having ridden 20 point-to-point winners and finishing fifth in the jockeys' table. He also won the Aintree Foxhunters and the John Corbet. He has agreed to ride for me next season. Nick Pearce has proved a very capable deputy for Tom this year.
I would welcome enquiries from owners who wish to place a horse for training - and there are always ownership opportunities in partnerships and syndicates. Owner-ridden horses are also very welcome, we can train the jockeys as well as the horses!!
ROLL ON NEXT SEASON!
